Students Receive Scholarship Grants [ Wednesday, 24th of June 2015 | 2 years ago ]
The mayor handed personally the ‘certificate of eligibility’ to a total of 1,053 college students coming from the city’s 35 barangay.
Under ESAP students shall receive cash assistance for their enrollment every semester; this will be awarded directly to their choice of educational institution whether public or private.
The amount of scholarship grants they can receive varies from their grade; a scholar must maintain a grade of 80% as general weighted mean and shall voluntarily undertake and participate in at least one community service sponsored by the city government.
Full merit scholarships were also given to students enrolled in courses preferred by the city government such as midwifery, criminology, environmental science, and social work.
Since 2013, the LGU has supported more than three thousand poor but deserving college students through this program.
“I believe that education is the solution to have better future, unfortunately not everyone can afford it. This is why we put education and employment as our top priority” said Mayor Santiago.
