As an initiative, the city yearly observes the environment month and as to this, CENRO Officer Engr. Anele David states the effort of the city in creating an urbanized yet environment friendly community.

With this, Mother Earth Foundation President Froilan Grate has been supporting the efforts of the city in creating a green city.

In his speech towards the students of the city, Grate pointed out the little things people could do to help save the environment such as saving water and electricity.

Meanwhile Philippine Information Agency Regional Director William Beltran reminded the youth to be responsible in their actions towards the environment.

“Ang pagkasira ng kalikasan ay pagkasira ng kinabukasan,” said Beltran.

For his part, Mayor EdSa said that one of his agenda is about environment and that he is grateful of the help Mother Earth Foundation is providing them.

“Dito sa atin, tayo ay committed at dedicated sa pagsusulong ng malinis at progresibong siyudad. Ngunit kasabay din nito, sinisigurado natin ang kaligtasan at kalinisan ng ating kapaligiran,” said Mayor EdSa.

Starting from June 13, 2015, the implementation of no plastic sando bags and styro food packaging is banned in the city, although the use of “plastic labo” is allowed only for the packaging of fresh meat such as pork, chicken, fish and beef. It can also be used as packaging for food, condiments, drinks, charcoal, salt, ice and sugar.
