Machineries Awarded To Farmers [ Thursday, 21st of May 2015 | 3 years ago ]

The city government of San Fernando through its City Agriculture and Veterinary Office, on Friday, distributed different farm machineries to Fernandino farmers held at the Central Terminal.

This was led by City Mayor Edwin D. Santiago, City Agriculture and Veterinary Officer Myrna Manabat, and representatives from the Department of Agriculture Region III.

22 farm machineries were given to farmers from different parts of the city in line with mayor EdSa’s advocacy to promote farming amongst Fernandinos.

Seventeen shallow tube wells and five complete hand tractors were presented to the farmers.

According to CAVO Officer Myrna Manabat, these machines will be used by the farmers for land preparation and will also cost them less compared to their traditional way of farming.

“Yung mga magsasaka nakakatipid sila, meaning yung production cost nila ay lumiliit din. Mas magiging profitable ang farming nila kapag may machines na sila,” said Manabat.

A total of 25 to 30% will be lessened to the farmers’ expenses, giving them more savings.

The funds used to purchase the machines came from the Bottom’s Up Budget in coordination with the Department of Agriculture Region III and the Department of Interior and Local Government.

For his part, Mayor EdSa pointed out that one of his agenda is to promote and help fellow farmers in the city.

“Ang pagbibigay natin sa kanila ng mga makinarya ay isang malaking tulong para mas mapadali ang kanilang produksyon. Sila ang nagtatrabaho upang tayo ay may maihapag sa kanila,” added Mayor EdSa.

The City of San Fernando is pushing for a more progressive farming industry to provide for Fernandinos and neighboring provinces as well.
