CSF, POPCOM Present 100 Millionth Baby Of Central Luzon [ Wednesday, 20th of August 2014 | 3 years ago ]

The City Government of San Fernando, together with the Commission on Population (POPCOM) Region 3, officially welcomed a newborn girl as the first of Central Luzon's 100 millionth-baby symbols during the Monday flag raising ceremony at the City Hall.

Mayor Edwin D. Santiago and POPCOM R3 Director Eleanor Cura presented Baby Kylie Espiritu who was born on July 27 at 12:39 a.m in the Sindalan Birthing Station this city.
Witnessing the presentation were Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin and City Councilors Nelson Lingat, BJ Lagman and Jacklyn Calimlim.

Aside from San Fernando, seven other provinces in the region shall similarly declare a newborn infant in their respective localities.

“The search for the 100 millionth-baby is an opportunity to highlight the significance of the Philippine Population Management Program (PPMP) in pursuing national and local development” said Cura.

On July 27, the Philippine population reached 100 million which posted a greater challenge for the government to provide for more services.

For his part, Mayor Santiago said that in San Fernando, where population is almost three hundred thousand, the city government will not only track the development stages of Baby Kylie but will be providing her with services from “birth until retirement”.

“Pagkapanganak pa lang ni Baby Kylie, inalagaan na siya ng ating mga doctors at midwives. Tumanggap din siya ng mga benepisyo gaya ng mga bakuna at ang pagsasailalim sa newborn screening. Iilan lang ang mga ito sa ating mga basic social programs,” he said.

The child’s parents, Mary Ann and Jerome, are very thankful because “she [baby Kylie] will now have the opportunity to have a good life and good health since she will be enjoying all the health services from the government.
