Senior Citizens Get Free Movies In CSF [ Wednesday, 9th of July 2014 | 3 years ago ]


Mayor Edwin Santiago led the launching of “Libreng Sine Para sa Senior Citizens”, the program that gives free movie privilege for elderly Fernandinos in any movie houses of malls located at the city.

During the program that were simultaneously held at SM Downtown, SM Pampanga, and Robinsons Starmills, the mayor cheered the participants saying that senior citizens in San Fernando are “in good hands and all social programs of the city are implemented as the city government’s way of showing gratitude and love our elders.”

“Looking at the happy faces of our parents makes my day, they deserve all the privileges and benefits we are giving” said Santiago.

“As of now, we have 23,000 registered senior citizens and we are in close coordination with them”.

He also announced that the city will soon acquire a service vehicle for the use of the city’s office of senior citizen’s affair.

“Napakasaya namin dahil ramdam namin na importante kami kahit matanda na kami” said Rogellio Santos, 70 years, a residente of Barangay Dolores.

Also present at the launching rites are Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, Councilors Nelson Lingat, Jacklyn Calimlim, BJ Lagman, and Harvey Quiwa.

Councilor Quiwa, who sponsored the ordinance in accordance with the Senior Citizens Act, said that the activity is a joint effort between the city government and private sectors “to provide efficient services to the people”.

Vice Mayor Lazatin echoed this explaining that the city council “unanimously” approved the ordinance. “We give our full support to the mayor particularly in programs that benefit our elderly constituents.”

The senior moviegoers would just have to present their senior citizen’s card or Fernandino access card to watch any movie of their choice every Monday.
