CSF Celebrates Arbor Day [ Friday, 27th of June 2014 | 3 years ago ]
According to City Environment and Natural Resources officer Engr. Anelle David, more than 700 mahogany trees were planted in the 35 barangays of the city.
“We will not stop here, our aim is not just to plant trees but to grow them said David explaining that the city government will regularly monitor the growth of the planted seedlings.
Mayor Santiago, for his part, bared his plan of making the city’s 16 hectare material recovery facility located in Barangay Lara as an eco-park for tourists.
“This is the first step of rehabilitating this place that used to be a dumpsite, in the near future this will be a model park to prove that development can be achieved without sacrificing the environment” said Santiago.
