CSF Promotes Biking For Clean Air [ Monday, 23rd of June 2014 | 3 years ago ]
This was stated during a cycling caravan and fun run which was sponsored by the LGU with the help of Walter Mart last June 21. The event was participated by more than two hundred bike enthusiasts and runners coming from the city and nearby areas.
“Naniniwala tayo na ang pagbibisikleta ang pinaka-episyenteng paraan ng transportasyon at kung mahihikayat natin ang ating mga kababayan, mababawasan ang mabigat na daloy ng trapiko, at maisasalba ang kalikasan” said Santiago.
He disclosed that in order to realize this dream of making San Fernando as the “most bicycle friendly community”, his administration requested assistance from the central government in putting up a “bicycle lane” in the city’s major thoroughfare.
By doing this, Santiago underscored, the city is gearing up in becoming the most livable place where development is achieved without sacrificing the environment.
The mayor noted that such initiatives are not exactly unheard of, in fact, non-motorized travel has been integrated in the road systems of foreign countries.
He also urged the public to explore more options and choose the best alternatives of transportation saying that “this program will not only alleviate environmental concerns, but it will also promote a healthier regimen for the Fernandinos.
