CSF Supports DILG’s MASA MASID [ Tuesday, 6th of December 2016 | 4 months ago ]

The City Government of San Fernando shows its active support on the Department of Interior and Local Government's Mamamayang Ayaw Sa Anomalya, Mamamayang Ayaw sa Ilegal na Droga or MASA MASID campaign through a formal launching held Monday.

Local and barangay officials, Philippine National Police, faith-based organizations, and civic groups have made their pledge of commitment to the program that aims to fight criminality, corruption and illegal drugs in the country.

Mayor Edwin "EdSa" Santiago said MASA MASID heightens community involvement in sustaining President Rodrigo Duterte's thrust to address social menaces particularly the growing number of illegal drugs case.

"This serves as reminder for us officials to strengthen multi-sectoral collaboration to maintain peace and order with the strict implementation of our existing laws," Santiago added.

He added that each barangay must ensure the formulation of its own MASA MASID team composed of officials and volunteers.

City Local Government Operations Officer Engr. Algy Canlas said the teams may engage in various rehabilitation programs like seminars, education campaigns, counseling and community service.

Under DILG Memorandum Circular 2016-116, the program has four main thrusts: information and education campaign in communities for government programs against corruption, illegal drugs and criminality; creation of a reporting mechanism on illegal drugs-related activities; formulation of community-based rehabilitation programs; and revive the spirit of volunteerism by creating a volunteer-friendly atmosphere for organizations that wishes to be partners for change.
