More than 90 families in the City of San Fernando enjoyed all-day fun activities on Sept. 26 during the celebration of "Pantawid Pamilya Family Day"; held at the Heroes Hall.

City Social Welfare and Development Officer Iris Biliwang said the participants are beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

"This is in line with the celebration of National Family Week in pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 60 issued on September 28, 1992," Biliwang added.

The activity also includes distribution of seedlings; free medical consultation and pampering services like massage, haircut, manicure, pedicure; and different parlor games.

In an interview, Mayor Edwin "EdSa" Santiago said this is the local government's way of strengthening family relationships and giving tribute to poor but deserving families in the society.

Highlight of the event is the recognition of individuals and families who exemplary perform their duties and actively participate in various 4Ps programs.

Best Parent Leader awardees were Maricel Magat of Brgy. Dela Paz Sur (1st place), Amy Tolentino of Brgy. Quebiawan (2nd place), Arlene Bautista of Brgy. San Juan (3rd place).
Perla Bulaon, and her family, who reside in Brgy. Telabastagan were recognized as this year's Model Family. While the Best Family Development Session Group award was given to Brgy. Dela Paz Sur.

"Hinahangaan namin ang inyong katatagan dahil sa kabila ng kahirapan ay itinataguyod ninyo ang pag-aaral ng inyong mga anak at napapanatiling buo at masaya ang inyong mga pamilya," Mayor EdSa said.

Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program is a poverty alleviation scheme of the government that provides conditional cash grants to the poorest of the poor aimed at improving their health, nutrition, and the education of children below 18.
