World’s Largest Solar-powered Facility Inaugurated In CSF [ Wednesday, 1st of June 2016 | 1 year ago ]

Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago together with Gov. Lilia Pineda, Department of Energy Secretary Zenaida Monsada and other local officials led the inauguration of the world’s largest solar-powered facility that will bring clean and environment-friendly energy to the Robinsons Starmills, and of course, the Fernandinos.

This mall's solar-powered facility was made possible through Soloenergy Systems Inc. The facility has 10, 880 solar panels and covers 1.75 hectares of roof space. This is also the first of its kind investment in San Fernando.

The solar array will harness more than 2.88 Megawatts of power during peak hours, offsetting up to 95 percent of daytime demands of the mall.

For his part, Mayor EdSa commended Robinsons Starmills Corporation for helping the city government in promoting environmental programs.

“What we want in the city is progressive development without sacrificing the environment, and this move is the best example of this” he said.

Jeffrey Yutuc, Project Development Officer of the Investment Promotion Office, said that the city government may give tax incentives to business that operates facilities that are not harmful to the environment.

“Pwede po tayong magbigay ng as much as 10% discount sa mga kompanya na nagpapatupad ng eco-friendly measures.”

Frederick Go, Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) president, said that he was inspired with the city’s advocacy of protecting the environment thus this renewable energy equipment.
“This is our way of helping the government in saving the planet.”

Recently, The People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) Human Resources Management Foundation Incorporated has named this capital city as 2016 Tanging Bayani ng Kalikasan’ among the awardees of this year’s Bayani ng Kalikasan Awards.

The city was cited for its “outstanding achievement in the area of the implementation of the Clean Air Act and climate change.”

The city has also gained numerous recognitions for having committed to the implementation of RA 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management and enjoining all 35 barangays to contribute in solving garbage problems.
