The half day program was highlighted by the Launching and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing of the JobStart Philippines Program. ”As the city mayor, I believe that the Jobstart Program paves the way to faster employment and job placement,” said Mayor Edwin D. Santiago in his inspirational message.
The City is among the four LGUs in the Philippines which was selected as a pilot area along with the cities of Taguig, Quezon and General Trias. “At-risk youth are the main beneficiaries of this program. Our national vision is to provide inclusive growth through massive job creations and substantial poverty reduction,” said Director Dominique Tutay of DOLE’s Bureau of Local Employment. Also present during the program were Shigeko Hattori, Director of Public Management, Financial Sector and Trade Division of Southeast Asia Department, Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Luke Myers, Country Program Manager of Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
San Fernando’s Employment Services Division Youth Development, Vocational and Career Guidance Section also conducted basic labor education training to graduating students from 13 local colleges and technical schools in the City. --- CSFP-CIO
