Mayor EdSa Graces CHR`s Groundbreaking Ceremony [ Tuesday, 22nd of September 2015 | 2 years ago ]

To kickoff the inauguration of the new building of Commission on Human Rights [CHR] Regional Office 3, a groundbreaking ceremony on September 16 took place at Diosdado Macapagal Government Center, Barangay Maimpis.

The event was graced by City Mayor Edwin D. Santiago who participated during the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of two-storey CHR office building.

“City of San Fernando is one with the CHR in instilling awareness of universal human rights, values and principles among the various sectors of the society. In fact, we are working with the Department of Interior and Local Government [DILG] in establishing Barangay Human Rights Action Centers,” said Mayor EdSa.

“I hope that this facility will help ensure not only a society where human rights and fundamental freedoms are fully enjoyed, respected, protected and fulfilled by the state, but also one to make sure that all sectors of the society, regardless of status, will enjoy a non-biased and non-discriminatory government,” he added.

Said construction of the new edifice, amounting to 14-million, was funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Corporation [AECID].

The event was spearheaded by Regional HR Director Atty. Jasmin Navarro-Regino together with Atty. Alex Sitchon Jr., Elmer Maniego, Marta Caguiat and all of the officers and staff of the CHR Region 3.

Present also at the groundbreaking ceremony were Chairperson Jose Luis Martin Gascon, with Commissioners Karen Lucia Gomez-Dumpit, Gwendolyn Pimentel-Gana, Leah Tanodra-Armamento and Roberto Eugenio Cadiz.

In conformity with the exact specifications and design which was provided by the CHR, their Spanish counterpart will be undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways [DPWH] Region 3.
