8,159 Fernandino Families Get PhilHealth For Free [ Wednesday, 16th of September 2015 | 2 years ago ]


Some 8,159 indigent families received proof of their coverage of socialized health care under Philippine Health Insurance (PhilHealth) and the city government’s new program dubbed as “CSFP’s Philhealth para sa Masa Program,” at no cost to the beneficiaries.

Mayor Edwin D. Santiago, who personally distributed the PhilHealth’s MDRs [Membership Data Record] said that this is to ensure that the poorest of the poor can avail of hospitalization and other health services.

“This is intended to help our constituents during times of emergencies said the mayor adding that the LGU operated health facilities are all PhilHealth accredited meaning they offer zero balance scheme.”

The mayor told the beneficiaries to just show their PhilHealth member data record for them to avail the free hospitalization from government hospitals and facilities the city’s five rural health stations and four birthing stations that are always available to serve the public.

He explained that with this benefit, the members have no more reasons not to seek medical assistance, as PhilHealth is ready to pay in full for their hospitalization.

“Ayaw natin na magkakasakit ang ating mg aka-siyudad subalit mas maganda na sila ay covered ng PhilHealth para maging panatag ang kanilang kalooban.”

He also noted that through the government’s effort all senior citizens shall be covered the National Health Insurance Program. “Once you reach sixty years of age, you are automatically PhilHealth member” said Santiago reiterating that registered senior citizens of the city now reached more than 22,000.

Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, Councilors Nelson Lingat, Noel Tulabut, Harvey Quiwa, among others also graced the distribution ceremonies from September 7-11 in the city’s 35 barangays. The programs are held with the direction and guidance of Henry Almanon, PhilHealth branch manager in Pampanga together with officers Ferdinand Guinto and Beth Capuli.

Almanon said this program is a clear manifestation of the government’s continuous caring for the poor by making primary health care effectively reach the indigents through the various services of DOH, LGUs and PhilHealth.
