CSF Lantern Makers Benefit From Yaman Pinoy Program [ Tuesday, 18th of August 2015 | 2 years ago ]


Seventy two Fernandino lantern makers graduate from the Electrical Installation and Maintenance Training conducted by the city government of San Fernando and in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry.

The event was led by City Mayor Edwin D. Santiago together with Vice Mayor Jimmy T. Lazation, Councilor Jacklyn Calimlim, Department of Trade and Industry Provincial Director Len Ordonio, Investment and Promotions Head Remedios Agoncillo and Project Development Officer Jeffrey Yutuc.

The graduates underwent training conducted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority in order to equip and give proper training and basic instruments needed to ensure the quality of the lanterns being produced by the city.

The beneficiaries were under the Yaman Pinoy Program of DTI, in which a complete package of livelihood services that aims to help enhance the skills of people for the betterment of their livelihood.

The main agenda of the city in conducting the training among lantern makers is to promote and strengthen the local trades that seek to provide assistance to the lantern makers in creating a better Parul Sampernandu since the city is dubbed as the Christmas Capital of San Fernando.

According to DTI Provincial Director Len Ordonio, the initiative of the city in providing additional skills to lantern makers is a great way to also enhance tourism within San Fernando.

Meanwhile, Mayor EdSa emphasizes the need of having proper training and skills to create a more stable product, and also enhance the capability of a person, further honing their talents and skills.

“Sa atin kasi, kilala tayo bilang tahanan ng mga naggagandahang mga parol. Gusto natin na lalong mapaganda ito kaya naman nagbigay tayo ng mga training sa ating mga kapwa Fernandino. With this, we can attain the goal of city, being the center of Kapampangan Culture,” said Mayor EdSa.

The beneficiaries also received electrical tools such as analog electrical tester, long nose pliers, cutter pliers, ordinary pliers, screw driver, Philips screw, gloves and tool bag.

Mayor EdSa is encouraging every Fernandino to support the city’s programs when it comes to promoting San Fernando as the center of Kapampangan culture.
