The city government of San Fernando, Pampanga is now searching for the cleanest creek in its 35 barangays.

During the recently concluded recognition of model barangays in solid waste management programs, City Environment and Natural Resources Officer Engineer Anele David announced that the LGU will cite six barangays that have the cleanest creeks in the city.

“Its length must be at least 1000 meters and for those who don’t have creeks or with creeks of less than the prescribed length, they may choose to adopt from nearby barangays” explained David.

The competition will start on August 1 to April 22, 2016. During this period, CENRO and the board of judges composed of members of the CSF Water Resources Management Board will conduct unscheduled monthly inspections.

The criteria also include the long term plan for the rehabilitation of the creek clean-up and rehabilitation in Barangay Development Plan, enactment of illegal dumping ordinance, information campaigns, community involvement during LGU clean-up day every first Saturday of the month.

These contenders shall be vying for the title of most improved creek, best barangay on enforcement, best barangay of institutionalization, and the top three cleanest creeks. The awarding ceremony will be during the Earth day celebration next year.

Interested participants may get or submit their form at the CENRO office in the City Hall Annex [former DFA building] on or before July 15.
