City, All Set For Pyestang Fernandino [ Tuesday, 12th of May 2015 | 2 years ago ]


The City Government of San Fernando, on May 11, held a press conference regarding the preparations and activities that will be held during the Pyestang Fernandino.

This was attended by City Mayor Edwin D. Santiago, Vice Mayor Jimmy T. Lazatin, Chairperson of Pyestang Fernandino, Mr. Ramon Cabral Jr., Councilor Angie Hizon, and Councilor BJ Lagman, Councilor Harvey Quiwa, members of the PyestangFernandino executive committee and City Tourism and Investment Promotions Officer Ching Pangilinan.

With a theme, “Balen a Masaya, Bie Masaplala,” the city presented their calendar of activities for the celebration of the patron saint of San Fernando.

According to Pyestang Fernandino Chairperson Ramon Cabral Jr., the celebration of this event can be traced a long time ago and has been a tradition in the city.

“A Fiesta is a Filipino tradition, it is our way of thanksgiving to an abundant life. It’s a day of joy, merriment, peace as we celebrate the feast day of our saint, Saint Ferdinand of Castille,” said Cabral Jr.

Different activities are all set up for the feast, some of these are the Pyestang Fernandino Street Party and Car show, Agro-Industrial Trade Fair, Pyestang Tiangge, Flores De Mayo, Serenata at Polosa, Fernandinos Got Talent and the Mutya at Lakan ning San Fernando.

Meanwhile, City Tourism Officer Ching Pangilinan, during the presscon said that they are supporting the Agro-Industrial Trade Fair especially for it supports the local products of the Fernandinos.

“We have 50 distributors that will participate in our fair but we are supporting our women sectors especially those who underwent livelihood trainings and also, we are promoting the One Barangay, One Product of our city,” added Pangilinan.

For his part, Mayor Edwin D. Santiago stressed that having the Pyestang Fernandino is a way of promoting the culture and tradition of the Fernandinos.

“Bilang Kapampangan, nais natin na tayo, ang San Fernando ay maging sentro ng Kapampangan culture dito sa Pampanga, kung kaya naman taon-taon tayong nagsasagawa ng pyesta. Naipapakita natin dito ang ating paraan ng pagpapayabong ng kultura,” said Mayor EdSa.
